For those of us who grew up in Newfoundland Labrador, bakeapples were a welcome sight
in the later part of july or early august.
I was fortunate to have a bakeapple
bog about a five minute walk from our home.
We would pick them for jam or as a snack, when
we were swimming or trouting
in the Landing Place pond. (Pond in Creston South, Marystown
on the Burin Peninsula.)
Lately I've had to get bakeapples from my a roadside stand
or from my friend Jim.
Jim is retired and spend his days on the bogs during bakeapple season..
