2000 Ford Taurus My story.
I purchased a 2000 Taurus in April 09 with 198000 kms. The car was in excellent condition and was in
good working order.
The car was highway driven and was well cared for, with documentation.
The maintenance has been expected with nothing serious. I have put 10000 kms on the car in 7months.
Nov, 2009:
No heat. The air conditioning is working
fine. I've researched the various problems that many people have had with the heater.
I've
replaced the thermostat.
The heater hoses are both hot to and from the heater core. The actuator
motor is working.
Not sure if the blend doors are working so I ordered a kit from
Heater Treater.
Home of the #1 solution
to the common blend door problem in many automobiles.
Failure of this system results in no heater and/or no air conditioning.
Hopefully, the order will arrive shortly. They say allow 10 days or so for delivery
by UPS.
This is a car similar, in color, to the Taurus that I own
Update on no heat:
I received the heater treater blend door and removed
the radio and the glove box. Removed the actuator motor and used a screw driver to check the blend door.
It seemed to be working ok so I took it to a garage and asked them to re-flush the heater core. They told me that
there was a little heat but that was in the garage. No heat outside.
They wanted me to bring it
back so they could run a grandular material through the coolant system. I did not feel comfortable doing this so I phoned
a friend and asked if he knew a good radiator shop.
There was one about 45 minutes drive, from
my house. I got an appointment and drove there. It was -7 and extremely cold in the car.
The shop
was run by a father and son and not a place with a waiting area. They knew what they were doing.
They
used high pressure and air to remove the calcium build up in the heater core. I was in and out in about an hour, with lots
of heat. The cost $54.00.
I had already spent over $300.00
My recommendations:
If you are in the Ottawa Pembroke area of Ontario check with Valley Radiator Shop in Beachburg.
Keep
warm
